Smoked Cheese Steak Sandwiches

It can be a bit difficult trying to make a good homemade dinner that is simple and small enough for two. But when it comes to sandwiches it's easy to get the ideal quantity and still feel like a fantastic chef. Cheesy Steak Sandwiches are very quick, hot, and satisfy even the hungriest of appetites. The ingredients can be purchased easily, and are even sometimes already in the kitchen. This recipe is so quick that it's super easy to enjoy even in the middle of the week. So go ahead and gather up the ingredients then enjoy one of these fantastic sandwiches for lunch or dinner.
This recipe makes 2 sandwiches.

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound thinly sliced Smoked Provolone cheese.
  • ½ pound Ribeye steak, very thin sliced or shaved.
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ½ large green pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 white onion thinly sliced
  • 2 fresh rolls, either Italian or Kaiser split lengthwise
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil 

Method:

Get the oven ready by preheating to 200 degrees, and warm the rolls up. Heat cast iron skillet, or griddle over medium heat. When hot add oil, onions, peppers, and cook till caramelized, about 5-6 minutes. Add garlic, salt and pepper cook for another 30 seconds. Push off to one side. Add meat to skillet, stirring and breaking apart using two skillets. Cook till almost no longer pink, around 2 minutes. Saute with veggies, top with cheese slices then melt. Spoon into rolls then serve with condiments of choice, mustard and pickles.

Alternative Cheeses: Provolone, Swiss, Apple Smoked Swiss, Italian Cheddar Cheese Curds.
